Who is the writer? What is their purpose?Who is the intended reader? How does this text fit together with other texts in the data file?

考生要寫一篇 short feature article,題目已經俾咗,叫 "Hong Kong Tourism: The Way It Was"。

Interestingly, the activities that tourists engage in were very different. People often danced after dinner and ladies wore beautiful gowns. Men would go tiger hunting in the New Territories." This incident apparently became so famous that lots of tourists from North America used to come to Hong Kong in 1920s to go tiger hunting in the New Territories, though none were as 'successful' as Mr. Derby."

Nowadays, travelling to foreign countries is very easy. However, in the past it was not as simple as we perceive." I am writing a short article about travel and tourism in Hong Kong in the 1920s."

考評報告話,成功嘅考生會用 politeness strategies,例如寫 "We would like you to check the spelling of Thai place names carefully" 或者 "Please kindly reply this email for the confirmation of accuracy of details."

Besides, you have to check carefully the spelling of Thai place names, make sure there are no mistakes. Also, you have to make sure that all the details in the article are accurate." 一連串 "you have to" 同 "make sure",睇落似鬧人多過似請求。 Changes concerning your article on plastic surgery holidays",呢個 subject line 清楚講明電郵目的,對方一睇就知你要佢做咩。但差嘅例子就有 "Things to remind you of" 或者 "Message from Asia Life Magazine",呢啲太過 vague,讀者一睇唔知你想點,職場溝通效率零分。

用 "we would like you to" 代替 "you have to",用 "could you please" 代替 "make sure"。 另外,subject line 要具體,最好包含文章主題同你要求嘅行動,例如 "Revision needed for your article on XXX"。

It is suggested by some of our readers, like Mr. Kevin Hui, that tourism is negatively influencing the local people like the tribe of people in Brazil."

Dear Editors, With reference to a letter from Kevin Hui in your magazine, which claims that tourisms are hurting the local people, I would like to express my views." I would like to express my views" 太過個人化,唔似代表雜誌立場。

另外,Task 10 要求你講旅遊業嘅正面影響,但好多考生被 Data File 入面嘅負面資訊分散咗注意力,花大量篇幅講旅遊業有幾差,例如話旅遊業令到犯罪率上升,最後先補一句 "but we have to admit that tourist does bring in a lot of positive effect"。

考評員明確講,"those candidates who rely solely on direct copying from the data file will fare poorly"。 例如 Data File 有段講旅遊業數據,你唔好成段搬,要揀選同你論點相關嘅數字,再用自己嘅句子引入,例如 "According to the survey conducted in 2012, over 60% of travellers..."
